Digcy vs Fiverr
Updated:
Fiverr is built for buying a defined piece of work at a set price, and for small creative jobs it is fast and simple. Digcy is built for products that need ongoing decisions, user research and engineering. If you can describe the deliverable in one sentence, Fiverr can work. If you cannot, talk to a studio.
Digcy vs Fiverr at a glance
Digcy | Fiverr | |
|---|---|---|
What it is | Product design and development studio | Marketplace of fixed price service packages (gigs) |
How you buy | Scoped proposal after discovery | Pick a gig and a package, or request a custom offer |
Pricing | Quoted per project or phase | Package price set by the seller, plus a Fiverr service fee added at checkout |
Vetted option | The studio itself | Fiverr Pro for vetted sellers |
Scope changes | Planned and priced in phases | Usually a new order or custom offer |
Strategy and research | Included in the process | Rarely part of a gig |
Best for | Products, platforms, redesigns | Logos, one off assets, small tasks |
How the two models differ
Fiverr sells productized services. A seller defines a gig, for example “Figma landing page in three days”, with fixed packages and prices. You pick one, pay, and receive the deliverable. Fiverr adds a service fee to your total at checkout, which you see before you pay. Fiverr Pro offers sellers that Fiverr has vetted.
That model is efficient when the output is clear before you start. It is a poor fit for work where the answer is not known yet, like deciding what an MVP should include, or redesigning a product people already use.
A studio starts with the problem instead of the deliverable. Digcy works out with you what to build, designs it, tests it and builds it, adjusting as you learn.
When Fiverr is the better choice
Small, self contained jobs. A social media template, an illustration, a quick banner, a short explainer animation from a clear script. Fiverr is quick, prices are visible upfront and you can try a seller with little risk.
It is also useful for side tasks around a bigger project: someone to clean up a dataset or produce variations of an approved asset.
When Digcy is the better choice
Anything that is really a product. Apps, SaaS dashboards, marketplaces, websites that need to convert. These need a chain of decisions where each one depends on the last, and a gig buys one link of that chain. Stitching several gigs together usually costs more time than it saves.
Choose Fiverr if
The deliverable is clear before you start.
The job is small and one off.
You want a fixed price with no scoping call.
Speed matters more than strategy.
Choose Digcy if
You are building or redesigning a product.
You need research, UX, UI and development to connect.
Scope will change as you learn.
You want one team accountable for the result.
What a gig does and does not include
A Fiverr package describes outputs: number of concepts, revisions, delivery days, file formats. It rarely includes the work around the output, like understanding your users, checking the design against your brand, or making sure the developer can actually build it. For a logo or a social template that is fine. For a product screen, the work around the output is most of the value.
Hidden costs to plan for
Your time writing briefs for each gig and reviewing each delivery.
Rework when separate sellers make different design decisions.
New orders every time the scope shifts.
Handover problems if files are not organised for the next person.
A worked example
Say you need a landing page for a new app. On Fiverr you might buy a design gig, then a development gig, then a copywriting gig, from three different sellers. Each delivers what was ordered. Someone still has to make the copy fit the design, fix the spacing the developer changed and decide what the page is meant to make visitors do. With a studio, those decisions happen inside one team before anything is delivered. Neither is wrong; they suit different levels of complexity.
Where Fiverr Pro fits
Fiverr Pro narrows the choice to sellers Fiverr has vetted, which lowers the quality risk. It does not change the model: you are still buying defined deliverables and coordinating them yourself.
How Digcy approaches it
We begin by agreeing on what success looks like, then design and build in phases you can review. For products, see our UI/UX design services and mobile app design services. We are a UI/UX and product design studio in Morocco working with clients worldwide. Get in touch.
FAQ
Does Fiverr charge buyers a fee?
Yes. Fiverr adds a service fee to the total at checkout, and you can review it before paying. The exact amount depends on the order, so check at checkout.
What is Fiverr Pro?
Fiverr Pro is Fiverr’s selection of sellers it has vetted, aimed at business buyers.
Can I build an app with Fiverr gigs?
You can buy pieces of an app, but someone has to define the product and connect design and code. That coordination is the hard part.
Is a studio always more expensive?
For small jobs, usually yes. For products, compare total cost including your own time spent coordinating and fixing gaps between deliverables.
